A VERY blustery day…

Man, why you wouldn’t know it given the 60 degree days we’ve had the past week or so (luuuuuvin’ it), but back on November the 11th, we weren’t so blessed by the weather gods.  Mom contacted me a few weeks prior about doing a family shoot with a very narrow window of opportunity as dad is in the military, so despite crazy winds and plummeting temps, we braved it like champs.  Well…the kids, mom and dad did anyway.  Have I mentioned how intense my distate for the cold is?  It’s like super crazy intense.  Anyhoo–this post ain’t about me now is it?  Back to these lovelies…Colin must have seen something good in me despite my chattering teeth because I immediately got melt your heart smiles from the little guy (who had just the cutest waddle you’ve ever seen).  And Natalie….well Natalie was a sweet burst of energy who instead of hiding under tree branches for cover (like some others…errrr…me), held out her arms and embraced the crisp air on her face and the leaves blowing past her.  I really could should learn a thing or two (or more) from these kiddos.

Ok, enough chit chat…meet them!

Jack is back!

Well hello there Mrs. Bright Eyes!  I met Jack back in June when he was a wee little thing at just 5 weeks old.  Mom was so excited to have pro pictures done that we booked our fall session before I even packed up my newborn gear.  I smiled every time I saw his little name on my calendar and couldn’t wait to see how big he’d gotten over the last 5 months.  I recognized his sweet face immediately and was so excited to watch him wobble from side to side gathering his balance…and then the pride that spread across his face when he mastered it.  SO good to see you again Jack (and mom and dad too of course).  Already giddy about our big one year session in May!

Little James

This was one of those sessions booked so far out in advance and yet still had to be held into November due to this CRAZY {good} fall season.  We weren’t sure what the foliage was going to look like and I know I was at least a bit nervous that we’d be dealing with bare trees and a dark grey sky.  Well…as you can see, the leaves have been good to me this year and I may or may not have squealed a little when I pulled into Washington Park and saw the trees AND the ground covered in gorgeous yellow leaves.  James was a super sweet and easy kid and we had a blast enjoying a little bit of 60 degree fall weather in November.  I even managed to get a good shot or two of those adorable budding toofers poking through.

Miss Caroline

Meet Miss Caroline.  A spunky, adorable and smart, smart 8 month old little lady.

Parents often appear a wee bit worried when their little one doesn’t immediately welcome me with belly laughs and award winning grins.  But think for a moment…here am I, this random stranger who just entered your home and within a few moments, is acting like a crazy silly person towering over you, all while pointing this extra large black object in your face.  I’d be givin’ you the side eye once over too.  So I assure you, if your babe greets me with suspicion, fear not.  I  have never left a session without a smile (or eight).  :)

Kathi -

I always knew she was beautiful. Now everyone will know.

Eddy -

Thankyou so much for sharing – she is just too cute for words – takes after her daddy for sure! ( Sorry Mo!)

Ellie -

Thankyou, she is adorable, I think I have to agree with Eddy,(takes after her Dad) But I loved the picture of Mo and her beautiful daughter.

Ellie -

What a beautiful baby and family.

Sweet Sisters

Despite being almost 5 years apart, it’s clear these two sisters adore the absolute heck out of one another…in fact, it was pretty apparent the whole family adores the heck out of one another.  It was a pleasure to spend an evening with them capturing some lovely images I hope will warm them for years to come.  Enjoy your sneak peek guys!

’tis the season!

It’s almost that time again!  Less than 8 weeks (can you even believe it?!) before Christmas.  Now that the mini-session event (humungo success!) is done and I’m putting the final touches on all of those galleries, I figured it was time to get my 2011 designs up for y’all to see…oooh and aaaah over…and order up!

If you had a session with me this year, we can use any image(s) you wish.  All text is customizable and designs can be ordered as rectangular 5×7’s or boutique style in scalloped, circular or ornate.

To order your cards today, email me!  Happy viewing.  :)

Trevor and Stella are Back!

I first met this lovely family back in September of 2010 when I photographed big sister Stella and was delighted when they called me back to photograph Trevor just a week after he jointed them.  So you can imagine my excitement when almost a year later (almost to the day!), I got to see these two little cutie pies again.  Lets not wait so long next time guys!

a boy and his mom

I’m not sure there is any greater compliment than having a family drive an hour and a half just to have ME photograph them.  What an honor it is to be so trusted to capture this special mother/son bond.  Like many moms, we hide behind the camera and a huge kudos to Danielle for realizing how incredibly important it is to step out and be seen by the camera as well…something our children will undoubtably thank us someday.

Thanks for a wonderful afternoon guys.  I loved meeting you both and hope you adore these images as much as I do!

Sweet Shelby

It’s been almost a year since I last photographed Shelby at just 10 days old.  It was so awesome to photograph her again just one week before her first birthday!  Just a sneak peek for now on the blog since mom and dad refuse to get with the century and join Facebook.  :)

More to follow when I climb out from my digital darkroom.  :)

Williamstown

I love photographing extended families.  As an only child, this is not something I will ever have to contemplate doing since there ain’t no one but me.  And well, I like to stay behind the camera as much as possible.  I think it’s so fun to see extended families come together and watch the pure happiness on grandma and grandpa’s faces as their children and grandchildren gather.  I can’t think of a greater gift to give parents than treasured images of their loved ones.  So the next time you’re racking your brain wondering what to get the people who have everything, think photographs!  I have no doubt the images we captured in this gorgeous location last week will be framed, storybooked and cherished for many years to come.

Miss Campbell

Sweet little Campbell.  I had such a blast chasing around this new little walker.  There is something so stinkin’ adorable about those wobbly little steps.  She was a bit skeptical of me at first, but you’ll see, once she warmed up, she couldn’t stop smiling!

Mommy Sneak Peek

For mom…who’s silly work policy won’t allow her to view her sneak peek on Facebook.  :)

Three

Three is a wonderfully exciting age…they really become these interactive little people, no longer just a toddler.  Yet, a few of those toddler tendencies tend to hold on tight for a little bit longer.  In this little guys case, it was the intense need for a nap.  Don’t I know from personal experience that they rarely nap on the days we actually need them too…and in turn, take marathon naps when we have places to go.  No nap meant cutting our session a shorter than I would have liked, but you just know when you’ve pulled all you can out of them.  Nonetheless, we captured some fun lovin’ moments as he was much happier simply interacting with mom and dad and trying to forget I was following them around with this huge contraption slung around my neck.  It was actually quite sweet to sit back and watch their cute and silly games that elicited such belly laughs out of an otherwise, very sleepy little boy.  I did manage to pull out a few tricks of my own and get just a few chuckles directed my way as well.  :)

Calendar Update: Updated

First off, I cannot believe it’s already October!  Where in the world did 2011 go?!  Secondly, I cannot believe that my calendar is nearly booked through November (weekends now completely booked)…so if you’ve been thinking you want a fall/holiday session, do not wait to contact me!

So, I’ve never been much for mini-sessions.  I’ve tried in the past and have found that “mini”  always turned into “not-so-mini”…I just can’t keep it to those short 20-30 minutes no matter how hard I try…your kiddos are just too stinkin’ cute!   But given the holidays creeping up on us (eek!) and my limited availability for full sessions, I’m willing to try the mini’s again if there is sufficient interest.

I’m thinking something along the lines of a 15-20 minute sessions (for realzies this time)…3 edited full resolution files sent to you in a zip file…$150. This way, those of you who want a professional picture for holiday gifts and cards, but maybe don’t need a full session, could get what you want.  I would need to have 10 or so people sign up before I could commit to doing it at this special discounted price.  If you or anyone you know may be interested, email me!

UPDATE:  3 slots confirmed…5 remain.  All spots have been filled for this mini.  If you wish to be on the waiting list, please email me.  :)

Good-bye Summer…Welcome Back Pumpkins!

I love the summer.  Like REALLY love the summer.  And frankly, if Fall wasn’t so indicative of the super cold that would soon be upon us, I would probably better embrace it.  I will reluctantly admit that I do enjoy the crisp cool air, apple picking and pumpkin carving.  And it is nice to photograph in a change of scenery as well.  This first official “fall” session was a fun one.  Vanessa was such a cutie pie and reminded me so very much of my own little explorer at home.  We ran through fields and trees, we fell down in the tall grasses among them, and eventually made out way back out to the pumpkins.  Thanks for a fun evening “V”!
