On Vacation!

Promised my ladies no distractions from good old fashioned quality family time so all emails, galleries, orders and inquiries will be addressed when I return the week of 7/29. Thank y’all for your understanding and patience!

Mwah!

Hi Fentons!

Gosh was this family lovely….just lovely.  They booked way back with me in February when I was running my Maddie’s Mark special and they wanted to wait until we had some beautiful foliage and weather.  Boy was it worth the wait.  This family belongs amongst gorgeous flowers and green grasses….they were just beautiful inside and out and I was honored to have been trusted to capture them.

Say hi to the Fentons!

Gosh I love this girl.  It’s her third time being in front of my camera and she’s more beautiful each and every time.  Her spunk is second to none and oh my that tongue…she’s always sticking it out when she’s smiling and I just flipping love it..and her!!

Meet the Balzers

There are only a handful of couples in my life that I love near as much as this one.  It would take me days to describe why so just take my word for it.  They are incredible.  Mom is that girlfriend you can always count on for a good ab workout when you’re with because the belly laughs are nonstop…and dad’s not so lame himself.  He’s also a brilliant architect (in another lifetime, I will steal his job).

So when he mentioned last year that he had his eye on this amazing barn in Saratoga Springs with the vision to turn it into his family home, my eyes lit up and I jumped at the chance to not only photograph the barn itself, but his lovely girls in front of the existing structure before they begin construction in a few weeks.  Because we were pressed for time before the barn beings its conversion, we had to move fast and unfortunately, the weather (and light) was not on our side….but thankfully, the girls spunky and beautiful personalities shined right through the dim dark skies…

And I have to include just a few of the gorgeous barn itself.  I can’t wait to post a before and after when it’s completed next year…it’s going to be flipping AMAZING.

Baby Michael…

So in my last newborn post, I mentioned why studio space is so wonderful.  Well, today’s lifestyle session proved that there is no right way to go when it comes to newborns.  I almost squealed as I walked around mom’s property this morning and came across this vintage gem.  Seriously?!

To.  Die.  For.

Katie Engle Pierson -

Only Katie…lol

Arya :)

Say hi to gorgeous Arya!  We scheduled a session late fall and ultimately decided to hold out until we had some pretty green foliage in the Spring instead.  I’m pretty darn excited we waited.  It was a most perfect day and Arya has the most perfect personality.  I loved spending time with her and her gorgeous family (doggy too!) earlier this month and am excited to finally share the blog with you all!

I am so in love with this first image.  And it’s the only one from the session I’m sharing in black and white as it was such a colorful session…but something about her expression and crazy hair (which I refused to clone or soften in post processing because it just adds so much to the image) screamed black and white to me.

Simplicity

Ok, so I know I preached not too long ago about the importance of being outdoors, lifestyle and all that…and I still truly believe it 99% of the time.  The other 1% of the time however, images like this make me darn happy…I adore the absolute simplicity of it.  It’s not about the clothes, the props, the backgrounds…it’s just about the family…and the newest member of it…and the pure joy he’s brought to them.  I just love every single thing about it.

That being said, I couldn’t just completely ignore the lush greenery outside now could I??

Gorgeous photo! Repinned it on Pinterest the other day. Had no idea that it was yours!

Beautiful Family of Four

This family is so sweet and fun…how can you not be when you have two beautiful little boys like this to play with and chase around all day??  They were in from out of town to attend a family wedding and jumped on the chance to get a family session in when everyone was looking their best.  :)  We had a blast running around and playing…and I just loved capturing those sweet tender moments between parent and child.  It doesn’t matter how many times I capture the love a family has for each other, it is no less magical each and every time I witness it.

Just Love

This was one of those times that I may have said no more than 5 words during the actual session as I just sat back and watched with a grin as these two just spent our entire session just lovin’ on one another…and click, click, clicked away catching as many magical moments between them as I could.  I beamed ear to ear as I edited each of these images as I truly felt that every single one was more beautiful than the one before.  Their love for one another and life in general just shined through…and I’m so thrilled I was trusted to capture it.

And if the session itself wasn’t enough of a joy (and it was!!), mom’s reaction to her gallery this morning just makes me downright GIDDY.  I’ll keep most of her email private, but there was one line that I couldn’t resist sharing as it’s truly the heart and soul of my business…and the reason I do what I do…

“My husband & I have looked through these pictures a gazillion times already & we have both laughed out loud because just looking at some of these, we can hear that special little belly laugh Reese has & her devious little giggles.”

And with that…say hi to Reese and her stunningly GORGEOUS (inside and out) mommy. :)

Hello again Mr. Nate

He really needs very little introduction as he’s graced the blog at least 4 times in his short 18 months….I can’t say enough amazing things about this family.  I just love when families return time and time again because they just can’t capture enough moments with their littles…and recognize how important it is to get in the picture.  I have just LOVED watching this guy grow from a squishy itty bitty newborn to a babbling happy toddler running around on his own two feet.

Can’t wait to see you guys again!!  xoxo

I cannot say enough amazing things about this family.  I was thrilled when asked to capture a few moments with their oldest daughter the week before her first communion.  The light was perfect, Jenna could not have looked more stunning and she braved the 37 degree temp and soaking wet grounds like a champ!   I hope these images will forever remain a special part of history for this lovely, lovely family.

Congrats on your first communion Jenna, you are simply beautiful inside and out!!

Why I don’t “do” studio

I get asked allllll the time “do you have a studio?” And with the exception of newborns, my answer is (and likely always will be) the same “nope! I’m a lifestyle photographer through and through”. It’s actually not a decision I ever really struggled with…studio or lifestyle…props or no props, etc. I could spend an hour explaining why I chose lifestyle over studio…but I’d rather show you with an image (or two). :)

Two images that for all intents and purposes purposes are the same “pose”. Except the one on the left was a pose…and is the ONLY studio like image we have framed in our home. I was a crazed new photographer praying my two small children would sit in a 4×4 space long enough without freaking out for me to get one, just ONE, decent image I could hang on the wall. Sure, they look adorable and I’m thankful to have the way they look at 6 months and 2 1/2 frozen in time, but it doesn’t evoke a whole lot of emotion for me.

The image on the right however…brings back a slew of wonderful memories. The girls prepping before taking the plunge down the slide together, McKenna’s slight look of hesitation because Kennedy was holding her just a tad too tight…the memory of them insisting on putting on their pjs (dirty face from dinner and all) and going out for “just one more” slide and feeling like rockstars getting to stay up just a little later than normal. I smile when I look at this picture. It immediately takes me back to that warm summer night and the joy I felt watching my two lovely ladies giggle and play together.

So that, my friends, is the reason I don’t “do” studio. I want to capture the raw moments. You know if you’ve had a session with me that I do very little directing (though I will likely wipe away any crumbs from their lips)…and I let your kids be themselves. I make it as stress free as possible and FUN. We play the games your children like to play…we run, we tickle, we play hide and seek and peek-a-boo. And that’s what allows me to capture who your children really are and not just simply what they look like. And if you haven’t had a session with me yet, give me a ring. Lets have some FUN!

love

There is still an enormous amount of love in this crazy filled world.  Images like these help me remember that on days like today when our faith is tested.  Thoughts and Prayers for Boston.

Peyton is HERE!!!

Yep, I am ridiculously excited about this little bundle of joy.  I have been photographing this beautiful family since older sister Maddie was no more than a pea in her momma’s belly.  Now she’s an almost 3 year old big sister to sweet Peyton.  I have been planning this session out in my head since I found out Jenn was pregnant months ago…so it was a dream come true to finally meet her this morning and snuggle the heck out of her.  Oh yeah, and I took a few pictures along the way too.  :)

Mommy & Me Mini Sessions

Spring is almost here, whoooopeeee!!!  And in the spirit of warm weather and Mothers Day fast approaching, I wanted to do something this year geared just towards my mommies.  I know personally how hard it is to get out from behind our cameras and get IN the picture with our children.  And trust me, I know how daunting it can be to be photographed….BUT it is really so important, and something you’ll never regret doing.  These mini sessions are designed to capture mommies and their children doing what they do best….loving and snuggling and hugging…and a little more loving.  So please join me on May 5th for this years Mommy & Me minis and capture those sweet mommy moments.  :)

Only  7 4 sessions remain after 3 were reserved by first priority Luxe Members.  So don’t wait to email me if you’re interested in securing one for yourself!

I should mention that you’ll receive an online gallery with approximately 12-15 images from our session.  Your package includes 4 digital images of your choice.  A la carte prints and products will also be available for sale at a 15% discount.  :)
