I got an excited text from my friend last May about this magical backyard with gorgeous purple forget me nots and we vowed then and there that when they came back this year, we’d get a few images of her three girls snuggled in them. We freaked out about the weather the entire week and rescheduled once (maybe twice?!), waiting for the perfect light. Would you believe that the clouds rolled in for the first time all day as I pulled into the driveway?? I promised her we would make it work even without the sun. I think we did ok, don’t you??
I wasn’t sure I could have been anymore excited to see this family again…and finally meet their latest addition. I met them back in 2013 when it was just little Reese and I’ve loved every moment of watching their family grow over the years. They are truly some of the most kind, loving, funny and amazing people I’ve ever met. So without further ado, meet Vivienne!
How cool is this day? I mean, I tell my girls every single day that they should be thankful for each other, but it’s pretty cool to have a day where they full on celebrate their sisterhood. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not incredibly grateful. I can’t begin to tell you how many more times a day they laugh and smile because of each other, and one of my favorite things is capturing those moments. Their relationship inspires me every day…both personally and in my photography and I adore being able to capture those same moments for my clients. Last year was a great year for siblings at Kidography. It was hard to pair down the images to share, there were just so many good ones! But here’s just a little sampling of some of my most favorite 2015 moments. :)
Spring and summer sessions are a perfect opportunity to get those updated family and kid shots! Also an ideal for that amazing lady who is often hiding behind her own camera documenting her family, and rarely has the opportunity to jump into a frame herself. Your children will thank you for documenting these days…cherishing these irreplaceable moments.

First communions are right around the corner! I am so thrilled I did sessions with Kennedy and a few of her friends before the big day last year so I was less stressed about getting a zillion good pictures the day of, and could focus on just being present. So…I want to offer the same for any of you who have littles making their first communions this year. This moment comes once in a lifetime!
Sessions will be held on Sunday, May 1st. Cost is $225 and includes a 20 minute session capturing 8-10 portraits, all of which will be available for immediate download from your private online gallery. Location tbd based on where the trees bloom first!
Email me to secure a slot, or discuss alternate dates…and please feel free to share this with anyone who may be interested!
This is our fourth session together, and each and every time, Masami brings such an authenticity to his images. I love that even at 10, he’s not too “cool” to be himself in front of the camera and I love how easy he makes it to capture his true personality – right down to the suit being 100% his choice in attire. Never be too old to let loose and have fun Masami!! Happy birthday!
Some days during this project I feel like I’m struggling to find something worth posting and other days, I have too many to choose from. However, I hold myself to only posting images that were taken on that day (even though it’s so tempting to cheat!). Poor John often has to sit through 15 minutes of me going back and forth…”this one or this one?!”…”color or bw?!”… “are you sure this one?!” … so there always ends up being a bunch of runner up images. I feel bad just tossing them aside so here is a little peek at the ones I loved but didn’t make the final cut. :)
So that’s it. With this final image, my 6th annual February project is officially complete! As stressful as it can be some days, I wouldn’t trade documenting this month for anything. I love watching the albums pile up on the bookshelf year after year, capturing the good, the great, the lazy, the sick, the silly, the weird and the everything in-between moments. I have always ended my project with a self-portrait of me and the girls and it’s by far the most stressful image of the entire month. However, I’ve never regreted forcing myself to get out from behind the lens, no matter how un-camera ready I may feel, to capture moments like this. I mean, seriously, never have you ever met two girls who love being tickled as much as mine. #outtakesblogcomingsoon
I’m embarrassed to admit that in the 6 years I’ve been in business, this is my first official hospital session. And I am in LOVE. I would do one every flipping day if I could. They represent absolutely everything I love about photography. Raw emotion, simple everyday moments, and most of all, love. My philosophy from day one has always been the same. To provide my families with not just pictures of their family, but real memories that they can hear, smell and feel when they look back at their images.
Some of my favorite images of both my girls as infants were from those first few days in the hospital. When I look at them, I am immediately brought back to being in that bed, holding my daughter for the first time, the love swelling in my chest and immense sense of pride at being someone’s mother. There is no better feeling in the world. So if you are looking into newborn images, please consider a hospital session, so that dad can set down the camera and simply enjoy those first few days undistracted…and trust that I will capture this new love for all of you.
